Original Charles River Lower Basin District Police Horse Stables opened in 1910. Motorcycles were located at the Lower Basin District Superintendent's residence/Police Station and Drawbridge tower. According to the 1924 Metropolitan Park Commission Report, the Police horses were all reassigned to stables in either the Northern part of the Metropolitan District at the Middlesex Fells Reservation or the Southern part at the Blue Hills District. Horses could then be transported by truck to any District for mounted patrols.
Original Boathouse is in the back. The boathouse was used until all the Metropolitan Police Boat patrols of the various districts were centralized into a Marine Unit at the New Charles River Dam.
