The Metropolitan Blvd. at Wollaston Beach that would one day become Quincy Shore Drive.
First generation Old Colony District Station at Koz Circle in South Boston which opened in 1950. Prior to this facility, the police station was at the Carson Beach Bathhouse. Originally, when the Wollaston Beach Reservation and roadways were set up, the Metropolitan Park Commission purchased and set aside property for a District Station and park administration and maintenance to be located there.
The third generation Old Colony District Station located on Day Blvd. in South Boston opened in 1963, replacing the previous facility. The MDC was considering building this station in the Neponset Circle area as it was more centrally located to the Old Colony District patrol area, however, it ended up here.
If you look carefully at this picture, or the next time you are at the front steps of the O.C., you can still see the outline of the old marque lettering "Metropolitan Police".
